A Community Committed to Military Families
At ACA, we take great pride in being a military-friendly school community, dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for military-connected students and their families. We recognize and appreciate the unique challenges that military families face, including frequent relocations, deployments, and the complexities of adjusting to new environments. Because of this, we strive to create a space where military families feel welcomed, valued, and supported, ensuring their children receive the best possible educational experience.
How We Support Our Military Families:
- Identification and Support: 40% of our student population is military-connected. To better serve these families, we actively identify military students through enrollment forms and voluntary surveys, which help us connect with them and understand their needs from the outset. This allows us to provide tailored support and resources for both the students and their families.
- Ongoing Engagement: We regularly honor our military families through school-wide events such as our annual Veterans Day program and Month of the Military Child celebrations. These initiatives celebrate the sacrifices and service of military families, ensuring that our students feel recognized and supported.
- Partnerships and Community Connections: We collaborate with the Altus Air Force Base (AAFB) to strengthen our ties with the local military community. This partnership allows us to stay connected with the needs of military families, fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration between the school and military personnel.
- Emotional, Physical, and Spiritual Support: Our commitment to military families goes beyond academic support. We offer emotional, physical, and spiritual care by providing practical assistance such as meal services, transportation to school events, and offering a strong, prayerful community. We also have a Military Mentorship group that helps students connect with one another and navigate the challenges of transitioning to new schools due to frequent relocations.
Why We Are Military-Friendly:
We pride ourselves on being a military-friendly school because we understand the unique needs of military-connected students. The nature of military life often requires families to adapt to constant changes, and we work hard to ensure these transitions are as smooth as possible. Whether through mentorship, school-wide celebrations, or providing emotional and logistical support, we make it a priority to honor and value the contributions of military families.
Our school culture fosters a deep sense of community and belonging, where every student, regardless of their background, is treated with respect and compassion. We believe that supporting our military-connected students not only helps them thrive academically but also strengthens the entire ACA community.
